Garry Sheriff is Managing Director at ITPS the business launched in 2000 and specialises in IT consultancy, implementation and support, in 2014 the company signed a deal that made them the largest facility of its kind in the North East. ITPS is a huge success but Garry’s route to owning and running the company has not been a conventional one.
Hampered by undiagnosed dyslexia, school was a challenge for this very bright chap; the first opportunity he got to escape he took. The escape route was into the kitchens of Tetley Porterhouse Restaurants, Garry became the youngest head chef they had ever had.
When the company introduced psychometric testing Garry confounded everyone with his results, they sent him to buy a suit and put him on a management-training scheme. Garry moved fast through the ranks and established a successful career, which ended abruptly, we will let him tell you in his own words what happened.
The next step in his working life was a sales role in Dixons where he was put in charge of the newly introduced IT section. This was to be a fortuitous step into the world of IT that resulted in Garry eventually establishing ITPS and developing the successful multi million pound business that it is today.
We have left some big gaps here and that is because this is a great story and deserves to be told in Garry’s own words.
Join us on June 24th to hear Garry speak, this is not one to miss.
