In a former career Jon Chadwick worked in the higher levels of the NHS, it was part of his job to educate on the dangers of alcohol misuse and the dangers of Britain’s binge-drinking culture.
Now he is the man behind one of the regions most successful distilleries where Durham Gin is created in small batches and delivers 40% alcohol by volume.
As career moves go, this is a pretty big one. When Jon addresses our lunch on the 26th November at Jesmond Dene House we look forward to hearing how such a change of direction came to be, it has to be a good story!
But back to the Gin! Durham Gin is created in the city and with the exception of the juniper berries most of the Gin’s ingredients are sourced as locally as possible including spring water from a well near Durham. Established in 2014, the business has grown year on year and the original Gin is now accompanied by Liqueur versions, a Durham Vodka and Durham Whisky.
Still operating as a relatively small team but with strong sales, we are eager to know what motivates Jon and what is next for the micro distillery that is growing.
