A career in marketing and retail left Simon unfulfilled, whilst juggling full time jobs in true entrepreneurial spirit Simon also began developing his own business.
As a business, The Hand Dyed Shoe Company creates handmade, made-to-order shoes that are individually crafted as true one-offs. No two pairs are ever the same due to the historical hand dyed techniques he mastered whilst working in the upholstery trade. Simon’s shoes afford you the ability to design truly memorable shoes for any occasion.
But The Hand Dyed Shoe Company is about more than shoes; it is about Simon’s own personal journey, his passions and his need to express himself and inspire others. He saw an opportunity in himself and his own suppressed personality and has exploited it in stunning fashion, creating a brilliant, rapidly growing brand.
When Simon spoke at our business lunch in July 2018 he delivered an empowering and emotive presentation, still in the beginning stages of the business he brought all of his dreams and fears to the room.
One year on, Simon is coming back to present to our Wynyard lunch, in the last 12 months he has moved office space, grown the business and won a major national award, The Klarna Smooth Stores Competition.
Really that is just a snapshot, Simon and the business have had an incredible year and we cannot wait to hear more!
Simon’s story is genuinely inspiring and a great example of what can be achieved with passion and commitment even at the beginning of the journey.
